Job Summary
Fisher Construction Group is a leading design/build general contracting firm headquartered in the Pacific Northwest and is one of the largest builders of the food processing and cold storage industries in the U.S.. We are actively looking for a Preconstruction Manager, experienced in commercial and/or industrial construction with an emphasis on food processing and cold storage.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive preconstruction schedules and manage all activities to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, including materials, labor, and subcontractor costs. Estimating experience should range from conceptual budgets to detailed take offs.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project budgets without compromising quality.
- Manage permits, approvals, and building code compliance.
- Coordinate bid processes, write detailed scopes of work, solicit, and evaluate subcontractor bids, and negotiate sub-contracts.
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients during the preconstruction phase.
- Provide regular updates, address concerns, and manage expectations to ensure client satisfaction and project alignment with their goals.
- Utilize software and technology tools for cost estimating, scheduling, and project management.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify and manage safety within the preconstruction phase.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
- Proven experience as a Preconstruction Manager or similar role in the commercial/industrial construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in construction cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Primavera 6, timberline MC2 or others).
- Willing to travel to distant jobsites.
- Occasionally work on uneven, rough terrain and in all weather conditions.
- Understanding of OSHA rules, state laws, NIOSH standards, and safety practices in construction.
Compensation and Benefits
Fisher Construction Group provides a highly-competitive wage and benefits package. Depending on experience, employment offers will range between $95,000 to $165,000 annually, with a potential annual performance bonus up to $45,000.
