ROCK SOLID FOUNDATION
Fisher’s history dates back to 1969 with roots in the Skagit Valley, and has grown to a closely held construction services company, designing and building commercial and industrial projects throughout the US and Canada. Formerly while family owned and operated, the company was known as Fisher & Sons. Today, with annual revenues of over $500M and over 400 employees, Fisher Construction Group ranks among the largest contractors in the Pacific Northwest.
While Fisher has grown over the years, our commitment to being an exceptional general contractor has stayed true. Delivering expert project management with meticulous attention to detail and a focus towards building long-term relationships with both clients and subcontractors.
1969 – Bob Fisher Establishes Fisher Construction
Fisher’s history dates back to 1969 with Bob Fisher establishing Fisher Construction. Our humble roots began in the Skagit Valley, with the Fisher family providing the building needs to the local community, from dealerships to shopping centers.
1975
By 1975 Bob's sons Jerome and Chad joined the company and established Fisher & Sons Construction.
1982
In 1982, Fisher & Sons Construction completed their first large scale cold storage project for Twin City Foods in Ellensburg, WA at approximately 80,000 SF. After the successful completion, a second project with Twin City Foods was quick to follow at 320,000 SF in size for their Prosser, WA location.
The early foresight of the importance to developing key relationships with our partners was pivital to setting the tone for success moving forward. Making the connections within marking the beginning of Fisher establishing themselves as the leaders they are today within the cold storage building industry. in the cold storage industry
1990
By the early 90's, the company's success began to take off, requiring the need to expand staffing. Fisher & Sons Construction started taking on new, non-family staff and offered shares to its key employees.
1996
After dedicating nearly 30 years to the business, Bob Fisher retires.
2002
In 2002 FCG Construction ULC is established and construction begins on the first Canadian based project; Lamb Weston in Taber, Alberta.
While Fisher had taken on smaller projects leading up to it, this fry plant project would mark the beginning of Fisher establishing their market share as an industry leader for designing and building fry plants.
2004
Fisher Companies Holding Company and JTM Construction are established as the company's overall growth continues.
2007
Chad Fisher retires from Fisher Companies.
2011
Jerome Fisher leaves the business as the last major Fisher family shareholder with the company.
2011
With the departure of Jerome Fisher, Dan Powers is appointed President and CEO.
Under Dan's leadership, the company also starts its own MEP / Process Engineering Division, setting Fisher apart from the competition.
2013
As Fisher Companies continues to grow and carve out a competitive niche offering turnkey solutions in the design | build industry, it starts its own Civil Division and hires its first structural engineer.
2016
JTM Construction splits off to its own company allowing Fisher to focus on industrial food production and storage solutions for its clients.
Additionally, Fisher expands with a secondary office location opening in Spokane, WA.
2016
Fisher Construction Group was named the winner of the International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC) Built by the Best Award for their project with Lineage Logistics and Titan Frozen Fruit.
The project was a 216,777 sq.ft. LEED certified facility, which includes 151,000 sq. ft. of cold storage and dock space, and 65,000 sq. ft. dedicated to onsite food processing for Lineage’s tenant Titan Frozen Fruit on a timeline that allowed Titan Frozen Fruit to start processing strawberries just seven months after ground breaking.
2017
Fisher Construction breaks ground in Tacoma, WA with their first automated storage retrieval system (ASRS) project; NewCold's first facility in North America. At it's completion, the facility was one of the largest in the USA with a storage capacity of over 25 million cubic feet, comparable to the volume of Seahawks CenturyLink Field.
2017
Fisher Construction Companies purchases a company to control Thermal Panel Division.
2018
Fisher Construction Group was named the winner of the Controlled Environment Building Association (CEBA) Built by the Best Award for their project with NewCold in Tacoma, WA.
The project featured a state-of-the-art freezer system, where oxygen is reduced to 16.5% saturation. The strictly controlled automated system is nearly three times the efficiency of a normal cold storage facility with 103,000 pallet positions.
2020
Fisher Construction Group begins construction on a new office in the Port of Vancouver, WA. Since opening an office in Vancouver in 2018, Fisher grew operations in Vancouver to 35+ employees with the expectation that 75 site and field employees will be working out of the Vancouver office five years from completion on the building.
As one of the Pacific Northwest’s first design-build firms, Fisher’s in-house architectural team designed the 12,400 sf two-story office building. Showcasing construction techniques and materials often used on Fisher projects, the steel-frame building will be clad with insulated metal panels and feature concrete panel accents.
2021
Fisher Construction Companies acquires All Surface Roofing as its own in-house Fisher Roofing Services, rounding out their turnkey-solutions and ability to self-perform.
2021
Fisher Construction Group announced as the recipient of the 2021 CEBA Built by the Best Award for their project with United States Cold Storage.
The project contains approximately 253,000 SF of space, with the ASRS high bay footprint approximately 147,000 SF and comprised of two areas separated by a 5-inch IMP demising wall, allowing each space to operate independently.
2023
Fisher Construction Group announced as the recipient of the 2023 CEBA Built by the Best Award for Phase I of their 3rd project with NewCold in the $35MM and over category.
NewCold Lebanon is one of the largest and most advanced cold storage facilities in the world with Phase I consisting of 464,656 SF. At 141' tall, the facility has the capacity of 122,000 pallet positions within the 27,000,000 cubic feet.
PRESENT DAY
Today and beyond, Fisher continues to looks into other self-perform work opportunities, in addition to expansion into the east coast, Canada, following our clients wherever they need us.
