Cancer Care Center Provides a Healing Environment in Every Way

The Skagit Valley Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center delivers state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic and treatment in Mount Vernon, Washington.

The cancer care center features the most recent developments in high-tech equipment. It includes two state-of-the-art linear accelerators used for radiation treatment. Markedly, each enclosed in 3’ – 6’ thick concrete shielding walls.

The building’s owners wanted a contractor that had medical building experience along with the ability to work with staggered tenant occupancy and changing floor plans. So they were pleased to find Fisher met their expectations in every way. Fisher worked closely with Mahlum Architects. Constructing a facility with advanced medical systems needed for today’s care delivery, while being able to easily adapt to the changes in the future.

Prior to final floor plans being completed, the Fisher team began demolished existing structures, constructing parking lots and building foundations. Despite the evolving project scope providing challenges, the building was completed on schedule and well under budget.

A beautifully appointed healing garden surrounding the cancer care center was installed as part of the project. Designed to provide a uniquely serene and healing environment for patients and families. The garden features fountains, waterfalls and as much as 2,000 plants.
